Photo a day 13/1/10
I grew up by in a smallish town by the lake. At the end of our large back yard/reserve was a creek in which we spent hours swiming, boating, fishing and exploring.
I moved into the city as an adult and worked overlooking the ocean watching the sun rise each morning over the sea and dolphins playing in the waves.
I lived walking distance to cafe's, restuarants, beaches which i think are amazing and the mountains and vineyards where a short drive away.
Then I fell in love with a Sydney boy.
Oh my, does he have a lot to answer for !!!
I moved to Sydney and out west to the burbs. We set up home close to his family and friends and over the years I have made some gorgeous friends and through the help of my love of photography have been discovering that my area has some wonderful, colourful, exotic and spicy parts that Im growing to love.
Looking back (through rose coloured glasses maybe) I think of the wonders I took for granted in my youth and wish i could offer those same experiences to my children.
But this is their home and they love it here. They have amazing friends, the city we live in is culturally full of amazing adventures and working opertunities when the time comes will be much better for them here.
My new mantra is its not better nor worse its different.
There will be a time in the future when we will have to make a choice.
Im not sure which city will have my heart by then.
But for now I will sit in the traffic and dream of the days when life was much more carefree.
